2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 launched at Rs 5.76 lakh

Kawasaki has launched the 2026 Ninja 500 in India. The price is ₹5.76 lakh ex-showroom. This puts to rest recent rumours that the bike might be discontinued. The new model costs ₹10,000 more than the previous version. So it is a small price increase.

The bike gets two main updates for 2026. First, it introduces the iconic Lime Green colour scheme. This is the famous Kawasaki green that you see on larger bikes like the Ninja ZX-6R. The paint has subtle white and dark blue graphics. So it looks more aggressive and sporty. Second, the engine is now E20 fuel compatible. That means you can use petrol with up to 20% ethanol. This is important because India is moving towards higher ethanol blends. So the bike is ready for the future.

Now let us look at the core specifications. The engine is a 451cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin. It produces 45.4 PS at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed unit with an assist and slipper clutch. This makes downshifts smoother and prevents rear wheel hop. The bike uses a lightweight steel trellis frame. The brakes are a 310mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The kerb weight is 171 kg, and the seat height is 785 mm. So it is fairly light and accessible for most riders.

Next, let us talk about the technology and hardware. The suspension uses conventional telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. This is not adjustable, but it works well for everyday riding. The electronics are minimal. You get an LCD digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity via the Rideology app. The bike has all-LED lighting. But it does not have advanced rider aids like traction control or ride modes. So it is a fairly simple bike in terms of electronics. The tyres are 17-inch alloy wheels with Dunlop Sportmax rubber. The Ninja 500 faces tough competition from the Aprilia RS 457. The RS 457 is made locally in India, so it is significantly cheaper. It also offers more tech features like ride-by-wire and switchable traction control. So the Ninja 500 is at a disadvantage in terms of price and features. Bookings are open at all authorised Kawasaki dealerships. Deliveries will start by mid-June 2026.
