Volkswagen new car launch in India 2025

After a relatively quiet 2024 for Volkswagen in India, the company has geared up for a product offensive in 2025. Some of these new models will be brought in as CBUs or CKD kits, indicating that the brand plans to expand its premium lineup in India.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

The Volkswagen Golf GTI was launched in India in 2025, arriving as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) in August. Priced around Rs. 50-53 lakh (ex-showroom), it has been well-received and even won an AutoX award for its performance. Offered in limited numbers, it is positioned as an aspirational model, bringing the iconic hot hatch with the 2.0 L turbo engine (265 hp) with advanced technology to India.

Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The Volkswagen Tiguan offers sporty styling with performance-focused features such as a 2.0 L TSI engine producing around 201 hp and 320 Nm of power, 4 MOTION AWD, 7-speed DSG, and 19-inch wheels. It also includes premium technology like a digital cockpit and large infotainment screen, delivering a dynamic driving experience with enhanced looks as well as modern comfort.

Volkswagen Tayron

The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to launch in India in late 2025 or early 2026, likely around January 2026. It will as a 7-seater SUV, succeeding the Tiguan Allspace, and is expected to be locally assembled (CKD) for competitive pricing. While global markets will receive it sooner, the India launch will focus on this three-row version, offering a practical family SUV option with a 2.0 L turbo-petrol engine and AWD.

Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift

The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift is not expected to launch in late 2025: instead, it is slated for an early 2026 debut. Some sources point to a February 2026 launch, following sightings of test mules and growing anticipation for a mid-cycle refresh. The update is expected to bring subtle cosmetic changes along with feature additions to compete with rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Volkswagen Tera SUV

The Volkswagen Tera is an upcoming compact SUV for the Indian market, expected to launch in early 2026. It will be positioned as Volkswagen’s smallest SUV, competing in the sub-four-meter segment. Built on the global MQB A0 platform, it aims to offer modern features at a competitive price range of around Rs. 9-15 lakhs. The SUV is expected to be powered by a small engine, likely around a 1.0 L, with manual transmission options, targeting budget-conscious buyers in India.
