Tata Avinya EV Range Launch in India by End-2026: All You Need to Know
Tata Motors had officially outlined the next phase of its electric vehicle journey, detailing the upcoming launches, improved localisation, and a rapid expansion of its EV ecosystem through the latter half of the decade. This announcement follows a major milestone for the company as it has crossed 2.5 lakh electric vehicle sales in only five years, with the Nexon EV making history as the first electric car in India to surpass the one-lakh sales milestone.

The first action will start in calendar year 2026. Tata has confirmed that Sierra EV will enter the market in the due course of next year, in addition to the facelifted version of Punch EV. Towards the closing months of CY2026, Tata will unveil the first model in the Avinya range – a born electric series that will sit at the top of Tata’s Ev hierarchy.

Already previewed through concepts in recent years, the Tata Avinya will be positioned as a more technologically advanced zero-emission vehicle. Looking further into the future, Tata has confirmed that by FY2030 its electric portfolio will include at least five all-new EV nameplates. This will be supported by regular facelifts, feature updates and lifecycle enhancements across the existing models.

Tata is believed to be planning a significant investment programme, potentially exceeding USD 1 billion, to support this expansion. Under the Avinya banner, multiple models are under evaluation, codenamed p1 through p5. The first of these, P1, is in the advanced stages of development & it could rival the likes of the top-end version of Mahindra’s born-electric XEV 9e and BE 6.
Subsequent Avinya derivatives could give rise to a wide range of body styles & sizes, including a midsize SUV measuring around 4.4 metres in length. A large three-row luxury utility vehicle stretching close to 4.9 metres is also said to be under consideration. Among these, the P4 will be a lifestyle SUV compatible in size to luxury offerings sold globally.
