Toyota Unveils Urban Cruiser Ebella with 543km Driving Range

Toyota India lifted the covers off its first electric vehicle for India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella. The badge-engineered sibling of the Maruti e-Vitara will compete in the midsize electric SUV segment upon launch, going against the Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Vinfast VF6.

Battery and Range

The new Toyota EV is on offer with the 49kWh-144hp with 189 Nm of torque and 61kWh-174hp with 189 Nm of torque battery as well as motor choices. The larger battery pack provides a single-charge range up to 543 km (on the ARAI cycle). With the EV added to the lineup, Toyota’s India portfolio now spans petrol, hybrid, diesel, and electric models.

The Urban Cruiser EV closely resembles the sibling of Maruti, save for the sleeker, segmented LED DRLs and triangular headlights, bridged by thick black trim, as well as a smoother front bumper with the two vertical air vents at the edges. There is generous body cladding all around, and like the Maruti EV, rear door handles get integrated within the C-pillar. Tailights also gets segmented effect and are not connected by the light bar, just like the front ones.

With Toyota’s other rebadged Maruti models, there is little to tell them apart inside, and the Urban Cruiser EV’s cabin closely mirrors that of the e-Vitara. This has been equipped with the 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 12-colour ambient lighting, JBL sound system and more.
