BMW M440i convertible launched at Rs. 1.09 Crore

Launched in India, the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible at a price of ₹1.09 crore, ex-showroom. This car is imported as a Completely Built-Up unit, which means it is fully made in a foreign country and brought to India. It is the open-top version of the popular M340i sedan. It offers very high performance along with a luxurious four-seat layout. It is perfect for people who want a fast, stylish, and premium convertible.

Under the bonnet, the M440i Convertible uses BMW’s famous B58 engine. This is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine. An inline-six engine has six cylinders arranged in a straight line, which gives very smooth power delivery. The engine produces between 369 and 374 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The car is paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The car also has a 48V mild-hybrid system, which helps with better fuel efficiency and provides a small boost of torque when you accelerate.

The exterior design of the M440i Convertible is very striking. It has a large, vertically oriented kidney grille, which is a signature BMW design element. The car features a fabric soft-top roof. This soft-top can be opened or closed in just 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h. The headlights are Adaptive LED units with a matrix function, which means they can adjust the beam pattern to avoid dazzling other drivers. The taillights are CSL-inspired LED units with a 3D effect. The car rides on 19-inch M light alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish. It is available in eight different colours, including Fire Red, Brooklyn Grey, and Portimao Blue.

Inside, the cabin has a 2+2 seating layout, meaning two seats in the front and two seats in the back. The back seats are best for children or shorter adults. The dashboard features BMW’s Curved Display setup. This includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Both screens are placed under a single piece of glass, giving a very modern look. The system runs on iDrive OS 8.5, which is BMW’s latest operating system. The front seats are electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function. You can choose from three seat themes: Tacora Red, Cognac, or Black. The car comes with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, which gives excellent audio quality. Other features include a Head-up Display that projects speed and navigation onto the windscreen, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera with parking assistant.

The main rival for the BMW M440i Convertible is the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet, which is priced around ₹1.16 crore. BMW has priced the M440i at ₹1.09 crore, which makes it slightly cheaper than the Mercedes. This competitive pricing is good for buyers who are looking for a high-performance luxury convertible.

If you are thinking of buying the BMW M440i Convertible, you should do so if you want a high-performance luxury convertible with a very fast engine and all-wheel drive for safety and grip in all weather conditions. You should also consider it if you love the feeling of open-top driving but still want a car that is very fast and handles well. The fabric roof opens and closes very quickly, even at low speeds. The interior is luxurious and packed with technology, including a large curved screen and a premium sound system. However, you should buy it only if you have a very high budget of ₹1.09 crore and above, and if you are okay with the fact that it is a 2+2 seater, which means the rear seats are not very comfortable for adults on long trips.

You should consider other options if you need four proper doors, like the BMW M340i sedan, which is cheaper and more practical for families. You should also look at the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet if you prefer the Mercedes brand or its specific features. However, that car is slightly more expensive.
