Skoda Epiq EV Launched — Price, Dimensions and Range Explained

Skoda has just unveiled the production-spec Epiq EV. It made its global debut in Zurich, Switzerland. The Epiq is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ front-wheel-drive platform. It is Skoda’s smallest and most accessible premium electric SUV to date. Skoda is targeting strict price parity with conventional fuel-powered cars. This means the electric version will cost about the same as a petrol car.

Skoda Epiq EV Launched — Price, Dimensions and Range Explained

The Epiq is designed for effortless city navigation. Despite its compact outer shell, the electric-only architecture stretches the wheels to the corners. This extracts maximum interior room. The car is 4,171 mm long, 1,798 mm wide, and 1,581 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,601 mm. The boot capacity is an impressive 475 litres. There is also an extra 25-litre frunk, which is front trunk storage under the hood.

The Epiq launches with two distinct battery chemistries split across three performance trims. The Epiq 35 and Epiq 40 both use a 38.5 kWh LFP battery. LFP stands for lithium iron phosphate, which is a very safe and long-lasting battery chemistry. The Epiq 35 produces 116 horsepower and 267 Nm of torque. The Epiq 40 produces 135 horsepower and 267 Nm of torque. Both have a claimed driving range of about 310 kilometres. They can DC fast charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 28 minutes using a 90 kW charger. The top-tier Epiq 55 uses a 55 kWh NMC battery. NMC stands for nickel manganese cobalt, which is a different chemistry that stores more energy. It produces 211 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. The claimed driving range is about 440 kilometres. It can fast charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 24 minutes using a 125 kW charger. The top speed is 160 km/h, and it unlocks full one-pedal driving in B-mode. This means you can accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal.

The global target price for the Epiq starts under €25,000. That is about ₹22.6 lakh. Skoda is evaluating localising the MEB+ platform components for India. The local market launch is anticipated around mid-2027. The estimated Indian price is expected to fall directly into the ₹21 lakh to ₹26 lakh ex-showroom sweet spot.

The Epiq showcases Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design language. It replaces a traditional grille with a sleek black panel called the Tech-Deck Face. This panel integrates cameras and ADAS sensors. The cabin features a 13-inch Android-based centre touch display. It has built-in Google Maps, Spotify, and YouTube apps. The car fully supports V2L, which stands for Vehicle-to-Load, V2H or Vehicle-to-Home, and V2G or Vehicle-to-Grid capabilities. This means you can power electrical items straight from the car. You can even send power back to your house or the electricity grid. The safety net packs 7 airbags as standard. This includes an innovative front-centre airbag. The ADAS layout tracks traffic lights and has remote automated parking.

If you are thinking of waiting for the Skoda Epiq, you should do so if you want a premium compact electric SUV from a trusted European brand. You want the option of a long-range 440 km version. You want advanced features like V2L and a 13-inch touchscreen with built-in Google apps. You have a budget of about ₹21 to ₹26 lakh. You can wait until mid-2027 for the India launch.

You should consider the Tata Nexon EV or Mahindra XUV 3XO EV if you need an electric SUV right now. They are already on sale in India. But if you can wait, the Skoda Epiq offers European build quality and advanced technology at a competitive price.
