Ducati Monster V2 Dark Unveiled Globally: 890cc IVT Engine, Blackout Styling & Monocoque Frame

Ducati has officially introduced the sinister Ducati Monster V2 Dark in a global unveiling on October 30, 2026. Embracing the stealthy, minimalist aesthetic of Ducati’s iconic ‘Dark’ heritage, this stripped-down roadster adopts the revolutionary 890cc V-twin engine with Intake Variable Timing (IVT), an ultra-lightweight aluminium monocoque chassis, and an intimidating matte-black aesthetic that strips away excess chrome to deliver pure, unadulterated Italian muscle.

890cc V-Twin with Intake Variable Timing (IVT)

Replacing the outgoing Testastretta architecture, the Monster V2 Dark houses an advanced 890cc 90-degree V-twin engine equipped with Intake Variable Timing. Weighing 9.4 kg less than its predecessor, the new powerplant generates 120 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm of peak torque at 8,250 rpm. Crucially, the IVT system ensures that over 70% of maximum torque is on tap from just 3,000 rpm, delivering explosive roll-on acceleration in city traffic and aggressive mid-range corner exits.

Power is directed through a 6-speed gearbox paired with an assist-and-slipper clutch and the latest generation Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0 bi-directional quickshifter.

Dark Stealth Matte Aesthetic and Minimalist Monocoque

The Monster V2 Dark commands attention with its full Dark Stealth matte black livery. Blacked-out frame castings, engine cases, exhaust heat shields, and radiator shrouds contrast sharply with subtle gloss-black tank graphics. Retaining the Monster’s signature bison-back fuel tank silhouette, the circular LED daytime running light accents its predatory front stance.

Underneath, an ultra-stiff front aluminium monocoque chassis attaches directly to the engine cylinder heads, helping achieve a featherweight 175 kg dry weight. Suspension is entrusted to fully adjustable 45 mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks and an adjustable Sachs rear monoshock operating on a double-sided aluminium swingarm.

Advanced 6-Axis IMU with Slide-by-Brake Technology

Despite its minimalist appearance, the Monster V2 Dark carries a flagship electronic safety suite governed by a 6-axis Bosch IMU. Features include:

  • Slide-by-Brake Cornering ABS: Allows skilled riders to execute controlled rear-wheel drifts into tight hairpins while preserving front-end braking stability.
  • Ducati Traction & Wheelie Control: Multi-level lean-sensitive intervention with dedicated Track, Road, and Wet riding modes.
  • 5-Inch Full-Colour TFT Display: Crisp high-resolution screen with optical bonding for glare-free readability under direct sunlight.
