Bajaj Announces ₹37,000 Price Reduction for Dominar 400
The new Bajaj Dominar 400 with a smaller 350cc engine has started reaching select dealerships in India. The reduced engine displacement has resulted in the bike attracting a lower 18 per cent GST, thereby bringing the ex-showroom price down by as much as Rs. 37,000. According to the sources, the new Bajaj Dominar 400, with the 350cc engine, got priced at Rs. 2.03 Lakh.

It is interesting to watch, despite the reduction in displacement, the bike continues to carry the ‘400’ badge instead of ‘350’. Bajaj has followed the same strategy with the new 350cc Triumph offerings, which were recently launched in India.
The company has retained the ‘400’ suffix in these bikes to prevent changing the perception of the bikes, uses a smaller displacement number, which might make them look inferior in terms of engine performance, and hampers the purchasing decision.

The official launch announcement, as well as detailed specifications of the new Bajaj Dominar 400, are yet to be released. Although the leaked specs of the bike are anything but reliable, the new Dominars’ 349.13 cc engine produces 40.4 bhp and 33.2 Nm of torque, which is a bump of around 1bhp and a drop of 2.8 Nm.
This has been achieved by reducing the stroke length from 60mm to 56.1mm, although the bore stays the same at 89mm. We expect the rest of the specs of the motorcycle to remain nearly identical.
