Honda City 6th Gen Launch Date in India: New Features, Design & Expected Specs
The 6th-generation Honda City is not arriving anytime soon. It is expected to launch in 2028, with production likely to begin by mid-2028. Before that, the current 5th-gen model will receive a major facelift in 2026 to keep it competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Verna.

The upcoming Honda City is expected to feature a radical new design inspired by Honda’s futuristic 0 Series sedan concept. It will move to a new platform, offering a sportier stance, refreshed styling, and will continue with strong hybrid and naturally aspirated petrol powertrain options. With these updates, Honda aims to regain its leadership position in the segment.
Next-Gen Honda City Design
As per industry sources who have viewed the early design mock-ups, the next-generation Honda City carries clear visual links to the 0 Series sedan. It is expected to feature a sleeker, sportier front end and a more athletic stance. One of the more striking elements – and perhaps the biggest talking point- is the return of a front quarter glass inspired by the iconic Lamborghini Countach. Unlike the 0 series concept, ‘pop-up’ headlamps will not make it to production due to the modern safety norms.
Next-Gen Honda City Engine
The current City is praised for its efficiency but criticised for its steep pricing. The next-gen model is expected to fix. All thanks to the localisation and parts optimisation, Honda will finally be able to offer the hybrid city that is priced within reach of the larger audience, which is an important step ahead of the stringent CAFE 3 norms kicking in from 2027.
Honda is expected to offer the City with both petrol and hybrid powertrains. Although specifics remain under wraps, the reference point is today’s model with a 121 hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with the 6-speed manual or CVT, and a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid that uses the two electric motors for delivering the combined 126hp.
What is the waiting period for the Honda City 2025?
In most cases, the waiting period is around 30 days, but in some cities, it can extend up to 3 months. The Honda City is priced at approximately. Rs. 13.89 lakh for the base petrol variant and goes up to Rs. 23.79 Lakh for the top-end ZX variant.
