Hyundai Creta’s New Rival Nissan Tekton to Be Unveiled on 4 February
Nissan India confirmed the ‘Tekton’ name for the upcoming midsize SUV last October, while also teasing some of the exterior and interior. It is expected to launch in India around June 2026. The carmaker will fully reveal the version of the upcoming Renault Duster on 4 February. The Nissan Tekton will go against the likes of Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
Price Expectations
It is all set to take on the hotly contested midsize SUV segment. The Nissan Tekton is expected to be aggressively priced between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom). Nissan is currently using a similar pricing strategy for the smaller Magnite, which is priced lower than its compact SUV rivals. The Tekton is also a crucial model for Nissan in India, as the current lineup is limited to just the Magnite as well as X-Trail.
Features
The Tekton features connected LED headlights and tailights with a C-shaped signature, which is a nod to the Patrol flagship SUV. In profile, pull-type door handles at the front as well as C-pillar-mounted ones at the backside were shown in teaser, along with the multi-spoke alloy wheels and with silver-finished roof rails.
With respect to the interior, the last teaser only showed the three-tone dashboard with a glossy back finish, and a bronze-colored strip running from the central touchscreen to the side AC vents. Features such as a wireless charger, a sunroof, and automatic climate control are expected.
While the details with respect to the engine and gearbox options for the Tekton are yet to be confirmed. It is expected to get the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit; lower trims could be offered with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, currently used in the Nissan Magnite. The manual and automatic transmission options are likely to be on offer.
