MG Majestor to replace Gloster
MG has recently introduced the Majestor as the new flagship ICE-powered SUV. Based at the Gloster, it sports a revised exterior design, new features and off-road oriented hardware. It was understood that both SUVs would be sold alongside each other.

The MG Gloster was launched in 2020 as a direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The sales initially appeared promising, with the model receiving over 2,000 bookings in the first month alone and selling out for the MY2020. The strong start did not last, and monthly sales soon dropped to triple-digit figures.
MG has attempted to revive the demand by introducing the ‘Blackstrom’ variants of Gloster, but that has only had a marginal impact on overall sales. By the end of 2025, monthly numbers had dwindled further into the single digits by the end of the model’s lifecycle.
With the upcoming Majestor, MG aims to rebuild the brand perception in the segment. The SUV is not developed from the ground up but is instead based on Gloster’s underlying architecture. This features a more rugged appearance, enhanced off-road hardware and additional features, consisting of a low-range transfer case, crawl mode and differential locking.
The high price points, strong margins and brand-building potential makes premium three-row SUV segment strategically important. This accounts for approx. 35,000 to 40,000 units annually and is currently dominated by Toyota’s Fortuner and Legender.
