Nissan to launch a 7-seater SUV in 2027

What! planning to launch its flagship 7-seater SUV in India in early 2027. This will be a premium vehicle that sits above the midsize 5-seater Tekton, which is launching in mid-2026, and the budget-friendly Gravite MPV. The expected price range is between ₹16 lakh and ₹25 lakh on-road. It will compete directly with popular 3-row SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and Kia Carens.

The new SUV will be built on the Renault Global Modular Platform, or RGMP. This is the same platform that underpins the upcoming Renault Boreal, Bigster, and Duster. Nissan has confirmed that this will not just be a stretched version of the Tekton. It will have its own unique design language, which is reportedly inspired by the rugged and larger Nissan Patrol. The car is expected to be about 4.5 to 4.6 metres in length, with a longer wheelbase to make room for a proper third row of seats.

Under the bonnet, Nissan will likely offer multiple engine options. One option is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that produces about 163 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. This engine will likely be paired with a manual gearbox or a DCT automatic. Another option is a 1.8-litre strong hybrid. This system will produce about 160 horsepower and is expected to give very good fuel efficiency of around 23 to 25 km per litre. The hybrid will also allow for significant electric-only driving in the city. Unlike many of its rivals, this Nissan SUV may also come with a proper 4X4 system for light off-roading, similar to its Renault sibling.

The interior will be packed with technology. There will be a 10.1-inch curved touchscreen for the infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. The dashboard will have a triple-tone finish with copper accents. For comfort, the car will get a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and an 8-speaker sound system. In terms of safety, the SUV will come with 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS, which is a smart safety system that can help prevent accidents.

If you are thinking of waiting for this Nissan 7-seater, you should do so if you need a proper 3-row SUV for your family, if you want the option of a strong hybrid engine with great fuel efficiency, if you want a 4X4 system for light off-roading, if you like premium features like a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats, and if your budget is between ₹16 lakh and ₹25 lakh. You can wait only if you are okay with the launch in early 2027.

You should buy a rival SUV now if you need a car immediately, if you prefer a brand with an existing service network and proven track record in India like Mahindra, Tata, Hyundai, or Kia, or if you cannot wait until 2027 for your new car.
