Renault Introduces Filante, Its New Flagship SUV

The Renault Filante has been unveiled as the French brand’s flagship SUV as part of the EUR 3 billion 2027 International Game Plan. The Filante marks Renault’s attempt at entering the luxury crossover segment, where the automaker will contend with the likes of Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW, and Lexus. It is still a global model; the Renault Filante is meant for South Korea and the Middle East.

Exterior Design

The Filante was styled by Renault’s design centre in Seoul, as well as Renault Technocentre based in France. The athletic and sporty stance of Filante got highlighted by the prominent SUV coupe silhouette. This is brought to the fore by high ground clearance as well as a sloped roof, meeting at the ducted rear spoiler, which leads to a steeply sloped rear windscreen.

The design highlights are intricately designed 20-inch wheels, an illuminated Renault emblem at the front grille, plus geometric patterns, pod-style hexagonal headlights, and LEDs on the grille, which amplify the SUV’s contemporary but bold styling. The rear end of Filante looks sporty and gets 3D-style LED taillights.

The dual-tone interior of Filante gets the blue hues, which are integrated into the door cards as well as the dashboard, along with the contrasting blue highlights on seatbelts and centre armrest. There are several patterns all around the interior, as well as the use of suede on the roofline, which gives a sporty feel. The Filante comes with seating for five people and 633-litre boot space.

Powertrain Options

The Renault Filante will come with a hybrid powertrain that has a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, two electric motors, as well as a 1.64 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total system output is rated at 250hp and up to 565 Nm of torque. The transmission duties have been handled by a 3-speed gearbox, ‘Multimode Auto”s parlance. Filante sits on the CMA platform developed by Chinese auto major Geely, and is shared with Grand Koleos.
