Why tyres burst & how to stop it!

Wrong Air Pressure

Problem: Too much or too little air in your tyre is dangerous.

Low air pressure: Makes the tyre weak. It can get cracks on the side.

High Air: Makes the tyre too full. It can pop when it’s hot or when you drive fast.

What to Do:

Check your tyre air pressure every week.

Fill it to the right number. You can find this number on your car’s door or in the car’s book.

Check the air again if you are on a long trip.

Old or Worn Tires

  • Problem: Tires get old and weak. Most tyres last 5 to 6 years. Old tyres crack easily and can break.
  • What to Do:
  • Replace tyres that are too old.
  • Look at your tyre tread. If you see flat lines (wear bars), it’s time for new tyres.

Bad Roads & Sharp Objects

Problem: Potholes, sharp rocks, nails, or glass on the road can cut or damage your tire. This damage can cause a burst later.

What to Do:

  • Drive slowly and carefully on bad roads.
  • Before a long trip, look at your tires. Check for cuts or anything stuck in them.

Too Much Weight or Speed

Problem: If you put too many people or luggage in the car, or if you drive very fast, the tire gets too hot and stressed. This can make it burst.

What to Do:

  • Do not put more weight in your car than it is made for.
  • Do not drive too fast, especially for long periods or in hot weather.

Simple Safety Rules

To avoid a tyre burst:

  • Check air pressure every week.
  • Change old tyres on time.
  • Drive carefully on bad roads.
  • Do not overload your car or overspeed.
