World’s first E-bike with solid state battery – Verge TS Pro
The small Finnish electric bike maker Verge motorcycles, but the company has debuted the radical new battery technology, marking a big step forward for electric motorcycles. Verge has debuted the world’s first production motorcycle fitted with a solid battery, the TS Pro supernaked. Many of its noteworthy features are the ability to support the CCS2 fast-charging at up to 200kW, which can give it up to an 80 per cent recharge in claimed 10 minutes.

Why is it so exciting?
Before we get into the TS Pro itself, let us first address the solid-state battery pack. The lithium-ion or lithium ferrous phosphate batteries that contain the liquid or gel-based electrolytes are seen on most electric bikes on sale today. The design uses the solid-state electrolyte, said to reduce the risk of fire in an incident.

The TS Pro has been offered with the choices of two battery pack options, which are 20.2 kWh and 33.3 kWh, which have been rated for the claimed range of up to 350 km and 600 km. While the battery technology is certainly a game-changer, what also stands out is Verge’s novel hubless motor, which has been available for some time now.
It works because a set of electromagnets has been located in the inner part of the wheel, electromagnets repel permanent magnets that have been situated on the wheel’s outer part, thereby causing the wheel to spin. Verge claims this motor is capable of delivering a respectable 102 kW, but the torque output truly staggers a colossal 1,000 Nm.
