April 2026 car sales: Maruti grows than Tata and Mahindra
India’s passenger vehicle (MPV) market in April 2026 saw Maruti Suzuki extend the lead at the top with the 1,87,704 units, marking the highest-ever monthly domestic sales. The month also saw Tata Motors retain the second place ahead of Mahindra, with the gap between the two remaining relatively close. Hyundai continued in the fourth position, although Toyota and Kia held their positions in the mid-table.

Maruti Suzuki reported the domestic sales of 1,87,704 units in April 2026, marking the highest-ever monthly total. The carmaker continues to lead the market by a wide margin, with the volumes supported by a broad mix of hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs.
The compact & mid-size segment accounted for 80,659 units, although the small cars like Alto K10, WagonR, and S-Presso contributed 16,066 units. The e-Vitara also contributed 2,006 units during the month, with around 85 per cent of sales coming from the larger 61kWh battery variant.
