Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Cruiser Launching in 2026
Harley-Davidson, in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, is set to launch the Sprint 440 cruiser in India by late 2026. This model will be the third motorcycle built on the co-developed 440cc platform. It joins the existing X440 roadster and the recently launched X440 T. The Sprint 440 is part of Harley-Davidson’s “Back to Bricks” strategy to expand its entry-level global presence. India will be the primary manufacturing and launch hub for this motorcycle.

Unlike the roadster-styled X440, the Sprint 440 will adopt a traditional cruiser stance. That means it is designed for relaxed, laid-back riding. The design is expected to feature a classic teardrop fuel tank, which is shaped like a teardrop and is a signature cruiser style. It will have a low scooped rider seat that sits you down into the bike, and wide, high-set handlebars that make you feel like you are sitting in a comfortable chair. The ergonomics are designed for a more relaxed riding posture. The steering rake angle will be relaxed, which makes the steering feel lighter and less aggressive. It will likely have a larger front wheel, probably 19 inches, paired with a smaller rear wheel of 16 inches. The seat height is expected to be lower than the X440’s 805mm, making it more accessible for shorter riders. You will be able to put your feet flat on the ground more easily.
The Sprint 440 will share its core mechanical parts with the X440 to keep production costs down. The engine is a 440cc single-cylinder, air-oil cooled unit. Air-oil cooling means the engine uses both air and circulating oil to stay cool, which is simpler and keeps the engine looking clean. The maximum power is 27 bhp at 6,000 rpm. The maximum torque is 38 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will come with a 3.5-inch TFT display, which is a small colour screen that shows your speed and other information. It will have Bluetooth connectivity to connect to your phone. It will also have dual-channel ABS to prevent wheel lockup during braking, and traction control to prevent the rear wheel from spinning on slippery roads.
The Indian launch is slated for the end of 2026. The expected price is likely to be between ₹2.50 lakh and ₹2.80 lakh, ex-showroom. This pricing will place it competitively against the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650.
If you are thinking of buying the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440, you should do so if you want a traditional cruiser bike with a laid-back, relaxed riding posture. You should also consider it if you want the Harley-Davidson brand and styling at an affordable price, if you are a shorter rider who finds taller bikes difficult to manage, and if you have a budget of around ₹2.5 to ₹2.8 lakh. The low seat height and relaxed ergonomics will make it very comfortable for long highway rides.
You should consider the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 or Shotgun 650 if you want a bigger 650cc engine with more power. You should also consider the Harley-Davidson X440 if you prefer a roadster-style bike with a more upright, sporty stance instead of a laid-back cruiser stance. The X440 is already available in showrooms.
