Honda Cars India has officially launched the 2026 Honda City Facelift. The introductory starting price is ₹11.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This is a mid-lifecycle update. It introduces a revised, sharper exterior design. It also adds long-awaited cabin amenities. The base introductory price remains identical to the outgoing model. So you get more features for the same price.

The updated City is available across four core trims. The top-tier strong-hybrid variant goes up to ₹21 lakh. The SV manual trim costs ₹11.99 lakh. The V manual trim costs ₹13.29 lakh, and the V CVT automatic costs ₹14.29 lakh. The ZX manual costs ₹15.25 lakh, and the ZX CVT costs ₹16.25 lakh. There is also a ZX+ manual at ₹16.14 lakh and ZX+ CVT at ₹17.14 lakh. The e:HEV hybrid is available only in the top trim at ₹20.99 lakh.

The exterior has been redesigned. The front features a brand-new honeycomb-pattern grille. There is a sleek LED light bar connecting the daytime running lights. The front and rear bumpers have been reworked for a sportier look. The car gets updated 16-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels. The boot lid is cleaner and has an integrated spoiler.

The cabin gets major upgrades. The old screen has been replaced with a larger, free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Following direct customer feedback, Honda has added ventilated front seats. There is also customizable multi-colour ambient lighting. These features were missing in the old City, and customers have been asking for them for a long time.

The safety kit has been enhanced. Six airbags and the Level-2 Honda Sensing ADAS suite remain standard. But the 2026 facelift crucially introduces a highly requested 360-degree camera system. This makes parking in tight spots much easier. A new Crystal Black Pearl finish joins the standard colour palette. Other colours include Radiant Red, Obsidian Blue, Meteoroid Grey, Lunar Silver, and Platinum White.

The powertrain remains mechanically unchanged. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine generates 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic. The claimed fuel efficiency is 17.77 kmpl for the manual and 17.97 kmpl for the CVT. The 1.5-litre e:HEV strong hybrid pairs a petrol engine with dual electric motors. The combined output is 126 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque. It routes power through an e-CVT. The claimed mileage is an exceptional 27.26 kmpl.

If you are thinking of buying the new Honda City, you should do so if you want a reliable, fuel-efficient sedan with a very smooth engine. You want the added features of ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera. You want the safety of 6 airbags and Level-2 ADAS. You have a budget between ₹12 lakh and ₹21 lakh. You should choose the hybrid if you drive many kilometres each day and want the best fuel efficiency.

You should consider the Hyundai Verna if you want a more powerful turbo engine and a more aggressive design. You should consider the Volkswagen Virtus if you want a sportier driving experience and a more solid European build quality. You should consider the Skoda Slavia if you want a similar European feel with a slightly different design. But if you value refinement, reliability, and fuel efficiency above all else, the Honda City remains the best choice in its class.
