Hyundai Sub-4m Electric SUV Spied with Twin Screens: Threat to Tata Punch.ev

The affordable electric car race in India is about to heat up significantly. While Tata Motors currently enjoys commanding market share in the sub-₹15 lakh EV space with the Punch.ev, Hyundai is actively preparing its counterattack. Test mules of Hyundai’s all-new sub-4-metre electric SUV have been spied testing on Indian roads, revealing a high-tech cabin with twin digital displays.

What the Spy Shots Reveal

1. Dual 10.25-Inch Connected Screens

Despite targeting an accessible price bracket, the interior spy images confirm that Hyundai is not cutting corners on digital real estate:

  • A floating curved panel housing dual 10.25-inch displays (one for the driver’s digital cluster and one for central infotainment).
  • A new 2-spoke multifunction steering wheel featuring illuminated interactive LED pixel dots.
  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto-Hold on the center console.

2. Battery Architecture & Real-World Range

  • Expected Battery Pack: ~42 kWh LFP battery pack engineered for tropical heat resilience.
  • Electric Motor: Front-mounted single electric motor developing approximately 95–115 bhp.
  • Claimed Range: Expected to deliver around 350–380 km per charge, providing a reliable 280 km real-world urban range.
  • Charging Capability: 50 kW DC fast-charging support capable of 10% to 80% replenishment in roughly 40 minutes.

3. Compact Urban Footprint

With an overall length under 3.85 metres, elevated ground clearance, and tight overhangs, this crossover is built specifically to navigate congested metropolitan traffic while offering easy parking and high-seating visibility.
