Aprilia Discontinues SR 160, SXR 125 and SXR 160 in India

Aprilia Discontinues SR 160, SXR 125 and SXR 160 in India

Aprilia SR 160, SXR 125, and SXR 160 in India as of May 2026. The SR 160 has been directly replaced by a more powerful successor called the SR 175, which is already reaching showrooms across the country. However, the SXR maxi-scooter range has been removed from the lineup entirely without any immediate replacement. These models have been quietly pulled from the brand’s official website and product listings.

Aprilia Discontinues SR 160, SXR 125 and SXR 160 in India

The SR 160 has paved the way for the new SR 175. The key change is a performance upgrade. The SR 175 features an enlarged 174.7cc air-cooled engine. This is the largest engine of its kind in India. It produces 13.08 bhp and 14.14 Nm of torque. The older SR 160 had a 160cc engine with slightly lower power. The new model also includes tech enhancements that bring it up to date. It now has a 5.5-inch TFT dashboard with Bluetooth connectivity. This is the same screen found on the higher-end Aprilia 457 range. The price of the SR 175 is between ₹1.26 lakh and ₹1.33 lakh, depending on the state.

The fate of the SXR maxi-scooters is different. The SXR 125 and SXR 160 have been discontinued, and unlike the SR range, there is currently no word on a replacement for these maxi-scooters. The SXR series was known for its larger bodywork, 12-inch wheels, and a more relaxed, touring-oriented riding posture. It was designed for comfort and long-distance travel, while the SR series is sportier. With the SXR range gone, Aprilia’s scooter portfolio is now more streamlined, focusing on sporty and rugged models.

The revised Aprilia scooter lineup now includes the SR 125, which is the entry-level sports scooter with 14-inch wheels. The newly launched SR 175 replaces the SR 160 and features a TFT screen and a larger 175cc engine. The Storm 125 is an active rugged variant with 12-inch wheels and knobby tyres, designed for slightly rougher roads. The SXR 125 and SXR 160 have been discontinued.

If you are thinking of buying an Aprilia scooter, you should get the new SR 175 if you want the most powerful engine in its class, a modern TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and a sporty riding experience. The SR 175 is the successor to the popular SR 160 and offers more performance and better technology. You should consider the SR 125 if you are on a tighter budget and want a smaller engine but still want the sporty SR design. You should consider the Storm 125 if you want a rugged scooter with a more off-road look and 12-inch wheels with knobby tyres.

You should look for a used SXR 125 or SXR 160 if you specifically want a maxi-scooter with a relaxed, touring-oriented riding posture, larger bodywork, and more storage space. But keep in mind that these models are discontinued, so you will only find them in the used market. You should also consider competitors like the Suzuki Burgman Street or the Yamaha Aerox 155 if you want a maxi-scooter from a brand with an active lineup.
