Bajaj Chetak crosses 7 Lakh Cumulative sales

Chetak electric scooter has officially crossed the 7 lakh cumulative sales milestone in India as of May 7, 2026. This means that Bajaj has sold over 700,000 units of the Chetak since it was launched. This achievement makes Bajaj Auto the third electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India to reach this mark. The first two companies were Ola Electric and TVS Motor Company. The Chetak is Bajaj’s flagship electric scooter, and it has become one of the most popular EVs in the country.

Bajaj Chetak crosses 7 Lakh Cumulative sales

The Chetak’s growth has accelerated significantly in the last two years. An impressive 79 percent of its total sales have happened since the start of the financial year 2025. That means nearly eight out of every ten Chetaks ever sold were bought in just the last two years.

The total cumulative sales as of May 6, 2026, stood at 7,27,779 units. In the financial year 2026 alone, Bajaj sold 2,98,436 units, which is a 25 percent growth compared to the previous year. In March 2026 alone, Bajaj retailed over 50,000 units in a single month. That is a very high number for any electric scooter.

The company’s market share in the electric two-wheeler segment has also grown. In the current financial year, Bajaj’s market share is 22 percent, up from 20 percent in the previous year. In the financial year 2026, Bajaj officially became the number two electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India for the first time in a fiscal year.

There are several reasons for this strong growth. Bajaj has expanded the Chetak’s reach to over 500 exclusive stores and more than 4,000 total sales and service touchpoints across over 850 towns in India. This makes it much easier for customers to buy and service the scooter. The company also launched a revised C Series lineup, which includes the C2501, C3001, and C3501 variants. These new variants introduced more accessible price points and premium features like Google Maps navigation on the scooter’s display. Recent 2026 updates also improved the top speeds of the scooters and reduced charging times. For example, the C3001 can now charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 2 hours and 55 minutes.

The Chetak lineup now starts at a very attractive price of ₹89,500 for the base C2501 variant. The top-end flagship C3501 costs up to ₹1.35 lakh. The range varies between 113 km and 155 km depending on the variant.

If you are thinking of buying a Bajaj Chetak, you should do so now because the scooter has proven its popularity and reliability with over 7 lakh units sold. The wide service network means you will not have trouble finding a service centre. The recent updates have made the scooter faster and quicker to charge. The starting price of ₹89,500 is very competitive. You should buy the C2501 if you are on a tight budget, the C3001 if you want a balance of price and features, and the C3501 if you want the best range and premium features.

You should consider competitors like the Ola S1 series, the TVS iQube, and the Ather 450 series if you want different designs or feature sets. However, the Chetak is now a very mature product with a strong track record.
