New BYD Atto 3 Debuts With 630km Range
The new BYD Atto 3 was shown at the Beijing Auto Show in 2026. This is a major update. The car now has a much longer range, a more powerful rear-wheel-drive system, and ultra-fast charging. In China, this car is called the Yuan Plus.

The new Atto 3 is bigger than the old model. It is longer and has more space between the wheels, which means more legroom for passengers. The boot is now very large at 750 litres.
Battery and Range Options
The new Atto 3 comes in two versions. Both use BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, which is very safe and long-lasting.
Standard Variant:
- Battery size: 57.54 kWh
- Range (CLTC): 540 km
- Motor power: 200 kW (268 to 272 horsepower)
- Drive: Rear-Wheel Drive
Long Range Variant:
- Battery size: 68.54 kWh
- Range (CLTC): 630 km
- Motor power: 240 kW (322 to 327 horsepower)
- Drive: Rear-Wheel Drive
The Long Range version has a bigger battery and more powerful motor. It can go about 90 km farther than the Standard version.
Flash Charging – Very Fast
The new Atto 3 has a new technology called “Flash Charging.” This is extremely fast. The battery can charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. This is much faster than almost any other electric car on the market today. For comparison, most EVs take 30 to 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
With this charging speed, you can add hundreds of kilometres of range in the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.
Design Changes – Bigger and Better
The new Atto 3 has grown in size. It is 210 mm longer than the current model sold in India. The wheelbase is 50 mm longer, which means more space for passengers inside.
Outside changes:
- New front bumper with a sculpted design
- 19-inch alloy wheels (bigger than before)
- Semi-flush door handles (they sit flat against the door)
- New LED tail lights with an illuminated BYD logo
- Fresh design all around
Inside changes:
- New two-spoke steering wheel
- Larger portrait-oriented touchscreen (stands up tall like a phone)
- 16-speaker sound system (very good quality)
- Heated and cooled box in the centre console (keeps drinks hot or cold)
- 50W wireless phone charging (charges phones very fast)
- Front passenger seat with extra reclining function (can lean back more)
Storage Space – Much More Room
The new Atto 3 has much more storage space than before.

The boot is very large at 750 litres. This is bigger than many SUVs. The frunk is also a good size. You can store your charging cables or small bags in the front.
Advanced Safety – LiDAR
The China-spec model includes a new safety feature. It has LiDAR technology. LiDAR uses lasers to see the road and objects around the car. This helps with automated driving and crash avoidance. It is one of the most advanced safety systems available today.
The car is built on BYD’s updated e-Platform 3.0. This platform is designed to make the car more efficient and safer in a crash.
