Engine and Performance
The biggest difference between these two bikes is the engine. The BMW F 450 GS has a 420cc parallel-twin engine. This means it has two cylinders, which makes it much smoother and more refined on highways. The vibrations are very low, so long rides are more comfortable. The KTM 390 Adventure S is the better choice for value-conscious buyers. It costs about ₹73,000 less than the BMW. KTM also has a very wide service network in India, and spare parts are easy to find. If you want aggressive performance and low running costs, the KTM is the smarter buy.
The BMW F 450 GS is a premium product. It is positioned as a “mini-GS” or a smaller version of BMW’s big adventure bikes. You pay more for the twin-cylinder smoothness, the BMW badge, and the prestige that comes with owning a Bavarian brand. The service network for BMW is smaller than KTM’s, and parts may cost more.
If you care about brand status and refinement, the BMW is worth the extra money. If you care about value for money and performance, the KTM is better.
