Triumph has launched the Tracker 400 in India, in the 350cc avatar. The bike is the first in Triumph’s lineup to be launched with the new downsized 350cc engine. This still carries the same looks as well as 400 badging as the International-spec Tracker 400.

The flat-tracker-inspired bike is powered by the 350cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that produces 39.4bhp at 8750rpm and 32 Nm at 7500 rpm. As compared to the 400cc motor, this is a drop of 2bhp and 5.5 Nm. The international-spec Tracker 400 has the same state of tune as the Thurxton 400 to produce similar power and torque figures.

Since GST 2.0 has come, Triumph has been working on downsizing the 400cc motors to under 350cc. This is done to ensure competitive pricing in the Indian market, now that GST on motorcycles with the engine capacity above 350cc are taxed at 40 per cent, although sub-350cc bikes are taxed at 18 per cent.

Aside from the downsized motor, this looks the same from the outside. This even carries the same 400 badging, which we can also expect from the other models in the new 350 lineup. The Tracker 400 stands out compared to the Speed 400 with the sportier looks and ergonomics.
