7 New Turbo-Petrol SUVs and Cars Launching Soon
The year 2026 is shaping up to be a very exciting time for car buyers who love the punch and excitement of turbo-petrol engines. Turbo-petrol engines use a small fan called a turbocharger to push more air into the engine, which makes more power without increasing the engine size. This technology is becoming very popular, especially in SUVs. From high-performance icons to updated family favourites, here are seven of the most significant turbo-petrol models launching soon.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS is a performance SUV that will launch on May 15, 2026. It is the flagship performance version of the regular Kodiaq. It will be brought to India as a limited-run CBU, which means it will be fully imported. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 263 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. It comes with a sporty RS-specific interior and exterior treatment, including special badges, sport seats, and bigger wheels. This is for enthusiasts who want a practical 7-seater SUV that can also go very fast.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2026 facelift is expected to launch on May 20, 2026. This is a major update for India’s best-selling compact SUV. The biggest news is that Maruti is expected to reintroduce the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine to the Brezza line-up. This engine produces about 100 horsepower and is known for its punchy performance. The facelift will also include a new design with connected LED daytime running lights and potentially Level 2 ADAS advanced safety features. This will keep the Brezza competitive against newer rivals like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
The Nissan Tekton is a new compact SUV that will launch between May and July 2026. It will be a sibling to the new Renault Duster and will be built on the same platform. The Tekton will offer a range of turbo-petrol engines, including a 1.0-litre and a more powerful 1.3-litre unit. This puts it directly in the highly lucrative compact SUV segment against the Brezza, Venue, Sonet, and Nexon. This is a very important model for Nissan India as they look to revive their presence in the market.
The Volkswagen Tera is another new sub-4 metre SUV, expected to launch in July 2026. It will be Volkswagen’s smallest SUV in India and will share its 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine with the Skoda Kylaq. This engine produces 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. The Tera will be a rival to the Brezza, Venue, and Sonet. It will offer German engineering and a punchy turbo engine in a compact, affordable package.
The Renault Boreal is a 7-seater SUV based on the Bigster concept. It is expected to launch in late 2026. This three-row SUV will utilize a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT automatic gearbox. It is positioned to rival established 7-seater players like the Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. The Boreal will give Renault a proper contender in the growing 7-seater SUV segment.
The Skoda Slavia facelift is expected in the third quarter of 2026. The sedan will continue with its two turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre TSI produces 115 horsepower, and the 1.5-litre TSI produces 150 horsepower. The facelift will bring subtle design changes and likely some feature updates to keep the Slavia competitive against the Hyundai Verna and the upcoming Maruti Ciaz replacement.
The Mahindra XUV 7XO launched in January 2026. It is the facelifted version of the XUV700 and is now called the XUV 7XO. It is powered by the same 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine that produces about 200 horsepower. The XUV 7XO also gets a new triple-screen dashboard layout and other design and feature updates.
