Honda Bike Activa 6g vs Aprilia Sr 160
The Honda Activa 6G and the Aprilia SR 160 target completely different types of riders. The Activa is a practical, fuel-efficient family scooter. It is designed for daily commuting, grocery runs, and carrying family members. The Aprilia SR 160 is a performance-oriented sport scooter. It is designed for年轻人 who want a fast, stylish, and aggressive-looking scooter for spirited riding.

The engine is the biggest difference between these two scooters. The Aprilia SR 160 is significantly more powerful. It has a 160.03cc engine that delivers over 11 bhp. This makes it one of the fastest scooters in India, with a top speed exceeding 100 km/h. The Honda Activa 6G has a smaller 109.51cc engine that produces roughly 7.8 bhp. It is designed for smooth, relaxed city commuting, not for speed. The Activa is much more fuel-efficient, giving around 47 to 60 km per litre. The SR 160 gives around 35 km per litre.
The ride quality is also very different. The Aprilia SR 160 uses large 14-inch wheels. These provide superior stability at high speeds, but the ride is stiffer. You feel bumps and potholes more. The Honda Activa 6G uses a 12-inch front wheel and a 10-inch rear wheel. The suspension is tuned for comfort, so it absorbs bumps much better. The Activa is known for its plush, comfortable ride on bumpy city roads.
Safety features also differ. The SR 160 comes with a front disc brake and single-channel ABS, which stands for Anti-lock Braking System. ABS prevents the wheel from locking up during hard braking, which helps you maintain control. The Activa 6G uses a Combi Brake System, or CBS, across all variants. CBS links the front and rear brakes so they apply together. It is effective for normal riding but less advanced than ABS.
Practicality is where the Activa shines. It has an external fuel filler cap, so you can fill petrol without opening the seat. It has silent start technology called ACG, which makes the scooter start very quietly. It also has much higher resale value because it is India’s best-selling scooter. The SR 160 focuses on aesthetics, with sporty graphics and aggressive styling. It looks much cooler than the Activa, but it is less practical for daily family use.
The price gap is significant. The Honda Activa 6G starts at around ₹78,000. The Aprilia SR 160 is a premium offering starting at approximately ₹1.21 lakh. So the SR 160 is about ₹43,000 more expensive.
If you are thinking of buying a scooter, you should get the Honda Activa 6G if you are a family person who needs a practical, fuel-efficient, and comfortable scooter for daily commuting. You should also consider it if you are on a tighter budget, if you want low maintenance costs, and if you plan to sell the scooter after a few years (resale value is high). The Activa is perfect for office commutes, grocery runs, and taking children to school.
You should get the Aprilia SR 160 if you are a young rider who wants a fast, sporty, and aggressive-looking scooter. You should also consider it if you enjoy spirited riding and want a top speed over 100 km/h, if you want the safety of ABS, and if you have a higher budget of around ₹1.2 lakh. The SR 160 is perfect for年轻人 who want to stand out and have fun on their daily rides.
You should consider the Honda Activa 125 if you want a middle ground between the Activa 6G and the SR 160. It has more power than the 6G but is still practical and fuel-efficient. You should consider the TVS NTorq 125 if you want a sporty scooter that is more affordable than the SR 160.
