First look at official images of next-gen Hyundai i20

Official studio images and leaked pictures of the fourth-generation Hyundai i20 have come out. They show a complete top-to-bottom redesign of this premium hatchback. Hyundai has changed everything – the outside looks and the inside cabin. The new design is more futuristic and takes inspiration from electric vehicles.

Let us first look at the radical exterior changes. The current i20 has sharp, angular lines. The new one trades those for a smoother, more modern look. The front gets a full-width LED light bar that runs across the nose. This light bar connects to sharp, Y-shaped daytime running lamps. This design is similar to Hyundai’s newer global SUVs. The classic Hyundai ‘H’ logo has been moved. Earlier it was on the grille. Now it sits on the front edge of the hood. The side profile is cleaner and more aerodynamic. The glasshouse is smoother, and the rear C-pillar has a prominent new design. Overall, the car looks much more futuristic.

Now let us talk about the brand new interior layout. The cabin has been heavily modernised. The biggest change is the dual-screen cockpit. There is a massive, single-piece curved panel that houses both the digital instrument cluster and the widescreen infotainment screen. They sit side by side. The dashboard is minimalist. The physical buttons for heating and air conditioning have been moved lower down on the centre stack. The dashboard also gets clean horizontal slats. The steering wheel is updated with a new design that looks like modern premium cars. So the inside feels much more advanced and high-tech.

Now, what about the global debut and India launch timeline? The new fourth-generation i20 is breaking cover globally first in major South American regions like Brazil. Hyundai has not officially announced the India launch date yet. But experts expect the new i20 to replace the current-generation model in India by late 2026 or early 2027. So Indian buyers may have to wait a little longer.
