Tata Motors – Three New Electric SUVs Coming by Late 2026
Tata Motors is speeding up its electric vehicle plans. The company is preparing to launch three highly anticipated electric SUVs by the end of 2026. These include both 5-seater and 7-seater options. Tata wants to strengthen its position in both the mass market and the luxury electric vehicle segments. If you are waiting for a new electric SUV from Tata, this is exciting news.

The first car is the Tata Sierra EV. This is a 5-seater lifestyle SUV. The Sierra name is very famous in India. The old Sierra was a popular car in the 1990s. Now Tata is bringing back the nameplate on a modern electric SUV. The new Sierra EV will sit between the Curvv EV and the flagship Harrier EV in Tata’s lineup. It will launch between July and September 2026. The car is built on the acti.ev+ platform. It will use a 55 kWh or 65 kWh battery pack. The real-world range is expected to be between 400 and 500 kilometres on a full charge. The Sierra EV will keep the iconic curved rear alpine glasshouse roof. This was a signature feature of the old Sierra. It will come in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Inside, you can expect a massive 15-inch touchscreen infotainment display. If you want a stylish, modern electric SUV with a legendary name, the Sierra EV is for you.
The second car is the Tata Safari EV. This will be Tata’s first dedicated 3-row, 7-seater electric vehicle. It is designed to directly compete with other long-range electric SUVs from rivals like Mahindra. The Safari EV will launch during the Diwali festive season, which is around October or November 2026. It will borrow the robust 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery configurations from the Harrier EV. The high-capacity 75 kWh battery is targeting a certified range of up to 627 kilometres. In real-world driving, you can expect about 500 kilometres. The Safari EV will have the same commanding road presence as the diesel Safari, but with an electric twist. It will get an aerodynamic closed-off grille, signature connected LED lighting, and an optional dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. If you have a large family and need a 7-seater electric SUV, the Safari EV is the one to wait for.
The third car is the Tata Avinya EV. This is a premium luxury SUV with a sportback design. The Avinya name represents Tata’s entry into the high-end luxury electric car market. This is not a converted petrol car. The Avinya is built from scratch on a global Gen-3 skateboard electric vehicle architecture. This platform is licensed from Jaguar Land Rover and is called the EMA platform. The Avinya will launch in late 2026, with a wider market rollout continuing into early 2027. The interior is designed to be like a lounge. It will be very minimalistic and premium. It will have Level 2+ ADAS safety features and ultra-fast charging capabilities. You will be able to add a lot of range in less than 30 minutes of charging. The real-world range is expected to be over 500 kilometres. If you want a luxury electric car from Tata that rivals the best from Europe, you should wait for the Avinya.
If you are thinking of buying a Tata electric SUV, you should wait for the Sierra EV if you want a stylish 5-seater SUV with an iconic name and a massive touchscreen. You should wait for the Safari EV if you need a 7-seater electric SUV for your large family and you want a commanding road presence. You should wait for the Avinya EV if you have a high budget and you want a luxury electric car with the latest technology and ultra-fast charging.
You should buy the current Tata electric cars like the Nexon EV, Punch EV, or Curvv EV if you need a car immediately. These are already excellent electric SUVs with proven performance and range. But if you can wait until late 2026, the Sierra, Safari, and Avinya will offer much more.
