Mercedes-Benz S 450 e launched at Rs. 2.61 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 S-Class facelift in India at a starting price of **₹2.20 crore** (ex-showroom). This corrects earlier reports that quoted a higher price. The car is brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU). This is the first time the flagship luxury sedan gets a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant in our country, called the **S 450e**.

The car is available in two versions. The **S 450e Launch Edition (Exclusive Line)** costs ₹2.20 crore. It has elegant styling with traditional luxury highlights. The **S 450e MANUFAKTUR Edition (AMG Line)** costs ₹2.38 crore. It gets aggressive AMG body kits and special interior options. So you pay more for a sportier look and more customization. Now let’s talk about the performance and powertrain. The S 450e combines a **3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine** with a **120 kW electric motor**. Together, they produce **435 hp** and **680 Nm** of torque. This makes it more powerful than the petrol-only S 450 4MATIC. The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in **5.7 seconds**. It has a **22 kWh battery pack** that gives a pure-electric range of up to **115 km** on the WLTP cycle. That is enough for most daily commutes. The car also supports **60 kW DC fast charging**, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just **20 minutes**. This is a world-first for a plug-in hybrid. The fuel economy is an impressive **32.33 km/l** in hybrid mode.
